Re: [RC] Alabama Yellowhammer - Info Needed - rdcarrie

Cool...I really like rides that are challenging...I prefer the more technical ones.  Was just hoping to get a feel for what the trails are like so as to know what to expect (rocks, rugged, etc.).  Looking forward to hearing back from Tamra or anyone who has ridden this ride.  Thanks!  And the music sounds like a great bonus!  :)

Hi folks,
My husband and I are thinking about heading east to do this ride, if we can get the week off.  Can anyone tell me about it?  What are the trails like?  Rocky? Sandy?  Amount of hoof protection needed?  Our horses are shod...is that adequate?  How difficult are the trails?  Hilly, flat, etc.?  I'm trying to determine the number of days my horse could do...he's just getting started in 50s (done 3 so far).

Thanks in advance,
Dawn in East Texas
Dawn,
I have rode one day once.  So I will forward your email to Tamra Schoech the ride manager.  This is a super well managed ride.  Some gravel, you will see a project there that SERA helped fund with the Forest Service.  Trails aren't flat, are challenging, some gravel.  And the music Saturday night, is worth driving down for without horses!
