Re: [RC] [RC] Heat Rash...? - kazevedoQuoting DreamWeaver <nvrider@xxxxxxxxxxx>: Hi Katie -- I call them heat bumps. I don't pull my horses tack off until he has cooled out, usually a half an hour but sometimes longer. <snip> I found this to be really helpful on hot rides when I have been in the saddle for a long time. Thanks Karen! Good advice, I'm glad that works. What kind of pad do you ride in? Also, do you think the heat bumps are caused by simply going from a hot back to a cold back too fast when the tack comes off, or do you think that the pad is really too warm for his back alltogether? I thought that if my horse's getting a reaction to having too hot of a pad, then maybe I should get to the root problem and find a cooler pad for him. Ya know? (...afterall, wool is probably pretty dang warm...) But if the pad is perfectly fine and the bumps are just caused from the sudden change of temperature (which might happen with any 'ol pad) then your strategy would work great. I don't know what's best... Thanks for the help!
