I don't know how Barney ran the Pride project but I suspect it would be difficult to vet a ride and provide real time feedback during the ride. There was one study I know of where there was real time feedback, Biltmore several years ago, and maybe that was what rased the issue. All the riders that signed up were given feed back on the spot- except for the FEI riders. This would be plainly against FEI rules. After that was when the rider in questioned was DQed for supplementing with sugar based on blood analysis. The head vet made the decision. Rule 13 is pretty clear about invasive procedures and drawing blood to determine what needs to be put into the horse to go on does seem to cross that line. This is something the Vet Committee or the BoD ought to put out a ruling on, so that it's consistent among rides, and then something written in EN about it so that the riders know if it's legal or not. -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxx http://www.rnbw.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
