RE: [RC] fitness parameters and science - heidiI find it interesting that when Mr. Ivers does not like a conclusion, for example: "Fitness levels in horses decline slower than in humans", he states that one can not rely on studies of TB's since they are not fit or the study did not look at enough parameters. By the way, this post does not intend to state any opinion about the truth of the above conclusions. It also does not intend to prove that Mr. Ivers does not carefully evaluate the validity of the literature he cites. It just points out that there seems to be some inconsistency in reasoning he gives in some of his posts Unfortunately, Mr. Ivers also does not carefully evaluate the validity of studies, either, if they agree with what he would like to conclude. He continues to cite the so-called Bill Proctor studies--which were quite thoroughly demonstrated to be a complete hoax. I, too, appreciate it when Mr. Ivers goes to the trouble to dig up the scientific findings that many of us do not have time to pursue. But as with all things, small bits of science need to be taken in context with the whole picture, and one must be wary of sources cited that are not real sources. But it does get tiresome mining the nuggets while walking the minefield of the pure fantasy.
