Speaking of not absorbing - what is the title (again) of the book that
outline's Lance Armstrong's regimine?

Nancy Sturm>

The Ultimate Ride, by Chris Carmichael.

One of the interesting topics pursued in the book is that of "periodization".
Minicycles, macrocycles, megacycles--how to build a week, a month, or a year's
worth of ebb and flow work/recovery cycles that will enable very long term
continual improvement. the last time I was in Abu Dhabi, writing the 5 year
plan, I took a marathoner friend familiar with periodization techniques for
marathoners and that concept was built into the plan. At the time, it was a
relatively new concept to me. That marathoner, Rob Lyden, has since written his
own book and his in-depth treatment of periodization is excellent. Google Rob
Lyden and/or periodization and you'll likely find it.
