Re: [RC] Beetpulp-Chris P. and Heidi - Chris PausAgreed that moderation is important!
My babies thrive mostly on momma's milk and good pasture, lots of exercise which builds bone density and of course genetics, which has a huge role to play in bone density and an animal's build and sturdiness.
As I told someone else, we're blessed here in eastern Kansas with abundant pasture and good hay. I try to keep my feeding program as close to nature as possible figuring I can't improve much on the good Lord's design.
The beet pulp and/or sweet feed my babies get is in handfuls, not enough to create a chemical imbalance.
I'd be the first to admit I'm not a scientist, although I had nearly a perfect score on the ACT test in biology back in 1969.. does that count, LOL... My husband IS scientist. He is a chemist for a living. He'd be the first to tell you that he could study papers, read labels and do experiments all day, but the real proof is in the living animal standing right in front of your eyes.
We all can argue the merits and demerits of this feed or that one all day, call each other names, stir the pot, whatever... but the real proof of any feeding, breeding, exercise, or training program, etc., is in the results, i.e., the living, breathing horses.
