[RC] Beet Pulp - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I don't think the sky is falling if you feed beet pulp to foals. My babies
always get a little beet pulp with their mommas. It's mixed with oats or a
little sweet feed. Gosh, anyone is welcome to look at my babies.. they have the
strongest, sturdiest legs you'd ever want on a foal. I think people (several in
Texas) who have bought Bay-Rabs can attest that these guys have great legs and
bone...>

I was citing science--actual bone density studies. You're citing opinion.
Everybody has one or two of those.

I don't care if you feed beet pulp. The citing of those papers was in response
to someone belittling a veterinarian for telling the truth about beet pulp's
upsetting of mineral absorption. This plays upon not only foal development, but
athletic horses attempting to absord other micronutrients during conditioning
and competition as well.

Misinformation prevails more often than not in the equine industries. I go
after it when I can. Much of it is based on unsupported opinion. However,
experience in the field counts, too. Your horses MAY have stout legs--but it's
certainly not due to feeding beet pulp.
