[RC] Tevis photos - Lynne GlazerJeanne,It costs just as much to take the photo for a "snapshot" 4x6 as it does for a 20x30, same amount of post-production and same equipment cost, the difference in the cost to print the photo is relatively negligible in comparison. A lot of photographers don't even sell small ones, they start at 5x7 or offer the small ones for the same price as 5x7s. Imagine that you spend $5K or so for equipment that you almost always only use where there is dust and dirt? It doesn't last as long as in a studio. I won't bore you with the rest of the cost of doing business, including gaining the mastery to make consistently good images, not "happy snaps"). (My tax guy says, what business fails most often? restaurants, as most people could guess. what's number 2? photographers. Mostly due to poor business sense.) A friend of mine was one of the official photographers, worked 21 hrs that day. Here's her e-mail, you can see whether she's got a web gallery up (yet). She was at Devil's Thumb among other places, and I think she did the Hwy 89 stuff. cristy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx cristy at horse-photography (dot) com You are right that Cogneé's site has no apparent Tevis proofs or images available, tried with a couple different browsers. Personally, one day when I hopefully get to do Tevis, part of my planning would include budgeting for great imagery--capturing, as you said, that moment that will never be repeated. Lynne >>Went to her site but couldn't locate pics from Tevis ?Anyone else been able to open file? Does anyone know who was taking photos at the snow crossing?Didn't see any at the awards but may have missed them. One comment about the photogs...I know they have expenses to get there etc..but I still think $15 for a snaphot is pretty steep .One guy was complaining that not many people were buying his pics but geez, after all the money spent getting there, some of us just don't have much left over for the frills!Saw 4 shots of me & Ali but would have cost me over $100 to get them all,2 of them were $25 each...!I know the Cougar Rock pic will cost a bundle..sigh..I think I paid $20 for my first one(&$10 for the B&W)But I Do love to have the pics & appreciate the folks behind the cameras for being there to capture a moment that'll never be repeated. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
