[RC] Silicone can be useful - DreamWeaver

hee---well, I have silicone in my crewbag and trailer and have used it on dings and dents on the horses, and have lent it to lots of other people. I hate using splint or protective boots on the horses legs, so if they do happen to get a little ding or something I put a quarter size blob of silicone over it for the ride, and then when the ride is over pull it off. It's never caused any kind of a problem yet. I have also used it on a boo-boo and put a splint/ankle boot on over the top, that way the wound is protected. I like to just be able to protect the small little area that needs it, just for the duration of the ride. It works great!

One great place to use silicone is if a crupper rubs hair off on the top of the horses croup, a dab of silicone can protect that area and then the crupper will rub on the silicone. If you pull it off after the ride, and then reapply it for the next day I've seen riders get thru rides like Outlaw Trail and have the horse finish in great shape. You don't want to put it on a large area though, as it does block air.

Funny, I haven't used the silicone in a long time, maybe I better check and make sure it hasn't hardened up ;).
