Re: [RC] tevis and barefoot horses - ebeyriderSHOELESS is a better term for competing without steel nailed to their feet.BAREFOOT is a term used to describe the HORSE'S LIFESTYLE. Horses do not need hoof protection on their feet 24/7 with the barefoot lifestyle. They can even compete in many events without additional protection. My horse competed in many 50-milers completely "barefoot." The point is that technology has finally developed to the degree that a "barefoot" horse can now compete in even the highest-level events without needing to permanently nail steel to the bottom of their feet 24/7 in order to function.
