JMO, but we did some ferreting on this
years ago when a horse we had got thumps, and we attributed it to a 'panic
attack' at the previous vet check (someone was setting off fireworks
nearby). We asked other people whose horses had gotten thumps and most of
them could pinpoint a time when the horse had some type of "freak out' incident
beforehand.
