Re: [RC] AHRA registration papers not recognized for export - warning! - heidiPlease Reply to: Liz Henry liz@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================I was very surprised to find out that the well established Registry for Arabians, the AHRA, is not recognized abroad. Problem is they do not tell you that. When one asks AHRA for export papers, they take your money and issue you new export certificates which are worthless. See link to following article which describes the whole story. http://www.awhitehorse.com/editorials/impexp.html The reason for this is that the AHRA (now AHA) does not accept horses with known non-purebred ancestry from some South American countries. WAHO (the world organization) has been trying to force this down AHRA/AHA's throat for several years, and the export problem is one of the results. Personally, I think AHRA/AHA has made the right stand, and I respect them for it--I just wish that instead of trying to badger AHRA/AHA into changing their stance, that those who are inconvenienced by this would give WAHO a piece of their minds. Heidi PS: Liz, you know Michael Bowling--ask him sometime what his opinion is of the veracity of Awhitehorse as an information source as well. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
