RE: [RC] OT - ever install a bridge or culvert to connect pastures? - bobmorrisI would second that warning About working in a waterway with out the proper permits. Several years back I reshaped a stream bank a bit on my property. It had been undercut and washed away during spring runoff. I was threatened with a $10k fine by the DWR and the USCOE for changing a "navigatable waterway". Incidentally, the stream dries up every summer. Check with State and Federal authorities. While a bother, it is safer for the pocketbook. Do check with your local authorities, is many juristictions you need a bunch of permits to put a bridge over or a culvert in what is considered a stream. In MT here we have been watching a legal battle that dates back a decade, and is not settled yet, over whether a certain water course is a ditch or a stream. If it is a ditch, the owner of the land can do whatever he wants, but if it is a stream he needs permits to do anything and much let fisherpersons come onto his place. If there is a good ford, your horses will probably use it in preference to the bridge. Also expect that that back pasture will get less use than the front.
