RE: [RC] Thumps - heidiI don't think I've been at a ride where a horse that had thumps crashed...could be wrong. I'm more afraid of quiet guts and "stareing" eyes. So...you vets...is the presence of thumps an accurate indicator that things are getting ready to go south? IMO, no--unless combined with other indicators. (Such as the quiet guts and staring eyes that you mention--or dehydration, or failure of the heart rate to recover quickly, etc.) It is certainly something to note and to watch, but IMO it isn't any bigger deal than any other parameter going out of whack that you note and you watch to see if things stablize or not.
