[RC] broken tree Orthoflex--repairable? - Mary Krauss

A friend's barely used endurance cutback, purchased on eBay, has a broken tree. (No, I don't think the seller knew the tree had cracked--we could barely see it at first--I only checked really closely because I was interested in buying the saddle from my friend.) I called Clint from Clint's saddle shop; he sounded optimistic that he could screw the thing back together then re-cover the tree with much stronger fiberglass for between $300 and $500, depending on if any of the panels need work.

My question is whether this might be throwing good money after bad, or whether the repair could result in a perfectly good saddle finally. The saddle itself looks as though it's never been on a horse--very hard to consider throwing it in the trash bin. It's seat is a really cool purpley blue color..... It fit 4 of the horses we tried it on well, perhaps because it's only 23 inches long.

Anyone who has some experience, good or bad, with this sort of repair, please let me know your thoughts.
