[RC] peanut rollers - John and Sue GreenallWe stopped by the QH Congress two years ago on our way out to the Spook Run ride. I warned my crew of what they were about to see, but they were dumbstruck all the same. Since I had bred QH way back, and still had a descendant of them, I was hearbroken to see what had happened to a great breed of horses. So, naturallly I could not keep my mouth shut and while watching a 3 year old maturity western pleasure stake class, I asked the guy sitting next to me what on earth were they doing. He, being a trainer and all, told me that such movement was "natural". I told him that I had never, ever seen a horse move like that freely in a pasture! Oh, he said, it's "natural" after training them to do it! I mean, the hot dog vender was going faster than they were at a canter! The gal behind me tapped me on the shoulder and introduced herself as one of the people furious about how these horses were shown. she said it was improving...very little at a time... but improving. So, it is good to know that the QH world does not think that this is such a good thing. Whew.
