You make a good point, but his "problem" was subtle (and intermittent) and I had never been denied starting because of it at any other ride, before or after that one. So I wasn't expecting it to be an issue. Yes, I certainly wished I had taken him out for a couple of miles before going for vet-in the first time, I believe we would have started if I had. The reason I never went back to the ride was not out of pique, but because I didn't think it was prudent to travel that far to a ride (800 miles from home) when I could expect to encounter "adversarial" vets and the prospect of not being allowed to start. I have the greatest respect and admiration for 99% of the vets I've encountered in this sport, we all owe them a great deal. It's a shame that every once in a while we encounter something like this. -- Joe Long jlong@xxxxxxxx http://www.rnbw.com =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
