RE: [RC] endurance rider's - Claire NystromMy boyfriend has a foundation QH and he is built like a tank. He is not at all lazy, but has a very slow walk, and not nearly as fast a trot as an Arabian or TB. His preferred gait on the trail is a nice easy canter. I have no grand plans of doing long rides on him, but would like to do some CTR's or LD's on him at some point. I am constantly having to hold him back as he is sensitive and full of it, but he is much slower in his gaits than my mustang/tb mare is. I have noticed that his stride is much longer now that I've been riding him in the Freeform SB (we rode him in the BMSS previously) and now I'm thinking that maybe he's not quite the plug I thought he was!!! He isn't really built for endurance, but he certainly has the mindset-- will happily lead or follow, always looking for adventure (he goes slower towards home than away and has actually argued with me because he doesn't want to go home), and rather be on the trail than anywhere else, and never gets bothered by other horses' shenanigans. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
