[RC] Rough trot - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Sharon Hahn sharon.hahn@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== He's only two. Give him time. For now, count yourself lucky if you aren't getting bucked off. Many two-year olds have enough trouble keeping their own growing bodies balanced, let alone trying to deal with a rider and tack and learn something new all at the same time. I bet the problem will resolve itself in the next year or so. In the meantime, why not forget the trotting and concentrate on a good foundation of exposing him to new things like trails, camping, mailboxes, other animals, going up and down hills, bridges, puddles, etc? Ponying is great, too. Also don't forget to make sure your tack fits, and remember that in a young, growing horse, just because the tack fit 3 weeks ago doesn't necessarily mean it fits today. Good luck! From Sharon, whose 3 year old has exactly 5 rides on her and is doing very well, thank you! ________________ Lori asked: Does anyone here have any ideas for a very ROUGH trotting quarter horse? He's 2, and we're just starting, doing a lot of bending, circling to try to round him out. But he's so rough you can hardly get yourself thru the excercise, any ideas???? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
