We had an "Heinz 57" Welsh pony about 12 hh.  Yes he was ridden mostly by me 
(5', 110  lb) or my skinny minnie daughter.  And he only got to do LD 
because that was all my daughter wanted to do.  But at the time my friends 
were riding 16 hh TB and QH.  And he kept up fine.  Later, they (and I )  
got Arabs.   And he still kept up.  (And after being around them for so 
long, I swear he started cocking his tail!)  Eventually my daughter got tall 
and we got her a part Arab.  He was so sweet and willing.  Sure wish I had 
him back for my granddaughter now.  And I only paid about $500 for him.
