RE: [RC] Secrets to Hydration??? help...... - Ranelle Rubin
Karla,
I have
used a product made by Knudsen called Recharge. It is a simple solution of
juice/and sea salt. The one I like is Lemon, which tastes a lot like lemonade.
I am not crazy about the other flavors (orange and fruit). It contains lemon
juice, white apple juice and sea salt. I fill my water bottles with ice first,
then with Recharge. I also have replacement for vet checks in my ice chest. I
like it diluted, not full strength. It keeps my blood sugar up as well as gives
me just enough salt to let me absorb the liquid. I am one of those who cannot
tolerate the “chemical stuff” in Gatorade. Ann Hall introduced me to this stuff
about 15 yrs ago. It is tough to find sometimes, but most health stores carry
it. If you are in CA, Safeway and Raley’s carry it.
As far as
food, I like cantaloupe slices and roasted chicken breasts. ?
Good
luck..! I always feel though that if you aren’t taking care of yourself, you
can’t take care of your horse!
Ranelle

Hydration??? help......
I have a bit of a hydration problem with myself. I do feel a tad
bit sick at the end of 50s. Classic signs of dehydration. I want to move up to
75s and next year, 100s. Can't do that until I get this thing licked. I've
trained just about everything....but I'm sure ridecampers know some tricks,
right? Also, I am the newsletter editor for our local Pacific Northwest
Endurance Riders association and want to do an article on hydrating the rider,
since this seems to be a common problem many have especially going into the
summer months. So....please help me write it and help me feel better at the end
of rides. I'm sure many will want to hear these tried and true tricks, so try
to post to the group. Thanks!!
