[RC] all-around backyard 4-H horses - Linda DeweesI was privileged to be our 4-H club horse project leader for 7 years, and stopped about 4 years ago. We had SO MUCH FUN!!! Our community is kind of islolated so competition didn't get serious, and I liked that. The kids did a little showing, gaming, trail trials, trail rides, and parades. Mostly we just did fun things within our own club (crazy games, Halloween costume contests, Easter bonnet contests for the horses, Christmas caroling rides, horse cookie baking, scavenger hunts.) None of our kids had much money or very good horses, but we all had a great time! I wish I had been experienced in endurance then because some of the kids would have loved it, if they could scrape together money for entry fees. I also wish I had known about clicker training back then! I would have liked to have seen how they did with that technique. I bet they would have gotten pretty creative with their shaggy old backyard horses!Linda Dewees =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
