RE: [RC] re: Pommel Packs-another thought - Nancy SturmYes! Cindy is so right. I went off last fall and landed hard in an abandoned farm equipment yard (like concrete!). I pulled my cell phone from my pocket, while lying flat on my back and called 911 and my husband. Had an absolutely miserable 25 mile ride on a back board and two compression fractures of vertebrae, but I'd have been a lot more miserable if I had to wait until someone noticed I was missing. They need to be attached to your body. They are most valuable in an emergency...when you and your horse are parted and you need help. BTW, I always get a cell number for ride management and write it on my hand or vet card, so I can call for help if needed. This past weekend I felt terrible when a rider was hurt out on the trail and I had left my cell phone in my truck accidentally. Bet I won't forget again any time soon.
