RE: [RC] re: revolution - heidiSteph said: Jim - at least get your facts straight. AERC's minimum age for endurance (including 100's) is 5. FEI 's minimum age for 100's is 7. Jim said: Hmmm...don't think I quoted an age.or compared the two. "Racing" at the International level is quite different from "Riding" in AERC.and that was "my opinion". I have friends who think I "overrode" Magic at 8.with NO 100's, 14 rides, 740 miles.with his best ride time in a 50 around 7 hours.and maybe I did.I agonize over that. FEI permits "racing" 7 year olds on a flat track at a speed that would do a 100 in less than that. It's all relative. Hmmmm... Yes, it IS "all relative." The fact that AERC allows 5-year-olds to compete means that in some cases, they are also raced, and sometimes raced hard. And yes, sometimes even on 100s. The fact that they are "diluted" by many who are NOT raced at that age does not alter the fact that AERC indeed allows this, and it happens. Can't begin to count the number of nice young horses that I've seen come into this sport (AERC-sanctioned endurance), race hard at 5, and maybe at 6, and never return...
