Re: [RC] More Daylight to ride! - heidiWhen people go through the ritual of moving their clocks forward each spring ushering in daylight-saving time, they're also saving energy - the equivalent of thousands of barrels of oil, in fact. Congress says a good thing can be made better. I've never understood the logic of this. The drive to and from work is the same distance under daylight savings time. I heat my house for the same 24 hours under daylight savings time. The work day is still the same length under daylight savings time. I know I don't save a single penny on fuel or electricity under daylight savings time. The only change is that as the days get longer, they also get warmer--about the time that we change to daylight savings time. But the ambient temperature doesn't change just because we set our clocks ahead--that change occurs with or without daylight savings time. And to keep this on topic, it only affects your time to ride if you work for somebody else who sets your work hours by the clock--if you are self-employed, it is still the same amount of daylight that one would have without setting the clocks ahead...
