Camp was completely packed when I got there (had 50, 25 milers AND Ride and Tie) so I had to park a mile away from the camp, but the ride was benefitting a very good charity, the ride was very scenic and challenging, and the dinner was killer afterwards!! Can't complain. Was out w/ the front runners up until @ mile 42 (there were five of us in a row in the front at the top of Kanaka) then.... lost a shoe and was stupid enough to have left my Easy boots at camp.....Walked a bit, then a VERY helpful person let me borrow one, so still finished a very respectable 11th in 7:29. Couldn't be prouder of Shaba, and gave him a Hostess Fruit Pie (his reward of choice) when all done. Made some new friends and went home with a lot of great memories. Thanks to all of the helpers, vets, and of course ride management for a job well done!! Lauretta and Shaba (What?? Only ONE fruit pie??
