[RC] NSH in endurance - kc85124I have ridden half-saddlebreds in endurance for 15 yrs. Raised them myself from my arab stallion and saddlebred mare. I found them to do very well in endurance especially on the really tough hilly rides. Mine tended to get all hyped up and would over do if they were on a flat ride where they could see other horses for miles. Because of this trait I made sure they were in great condition before I ever took them to a ride. Until I started riding arabs in endurance I never realized what an advantage I had with the NSH's fast trot I used to think the people behind me were just walking a lot more. HA! Now I'm less competative and enjoy my arab's laid back attitude and willingness to settle in anywhere and take care of himself. I started endurance back when you didn't need a "trained" horse so won many rides only because I couldn't get the half-saddlebreds to slow down enough. HA! If I had the chance to get another NSH trained by a good trainer I would jump at the chance th ough. I loved riding them and still enjoy riding my old gelding.
