RE: [RC] jumping electric fences - Kristene SmutsHOWEVER - they don't seem to know this. It is my impression that they connect the dots between a vertical place where they get shocked and an action of attempting to leap over that vertical place, and simply don't. Mike>> Mike, I'd love you to meet my young man! I've watched him test the fence and am quite certain that he, in particular, has reasoning powers beyond the normal (even humans!). He would touch the tape with one of his beard hairs to test if it firstly is on or off and secondly, how strong the kick is. If it's off, he'll make sure by very quickly touching the fence with his nose, then with his entire head, then he will go through, over or under, whichever is more convenient. If the strands are placed too close together, he will place his head under the top one and lift and pull so that the strand either stretches or breaks. If it's on and fairly weak (battery operated), ditto above, but a bit quicker. If the fence is kicking, he'll be satisfied with that portion of the fence, but go test another section. So, never say never!
