Re: [RC] My Mare Heat! - Diane TrefethenDon't breed her. Even if she became pregnant, her body is way past it's prime and she wouldn't be able to do right by the foal. It wouldn't get enough nutrients, it wouldn't turn enough. At each stage of development living things have minimum nutritional requirements. If those minimums are not met, you can't "make it up" by throwing supplements and great feed at them further down the road. Then there is the mare's comfort to consider. Would YOU like to be pregnant at 70+? hope lundquist wrote: Hi All: Got home from the Great Convention Sunday nite. Now its Monday morning and my 35 year old mare is in HEAT! I had moved her to another location while I was at the Convention. Two geldings are next to her in another pasture. They have been visiting. Do 35 year old mares grow Follicles??? Should I breed her? Need to know soon. Bye Hope Lundquist =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
