Re: [RC] saddle for gaited endurance horse - Karen SullivanYou might want to check out all the discussion on treeless and flex saddles on the two yahoo groups, http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group/treelesssaddles/ and http://www.groups.yahoo.com/group.flexsaddlesgroup/ lots of discussion on those specific treeless saddles and flexiible tree and flexible panel saddles...... I originally learned about the sport saddles from gaited horse breeders. They worked well for me for many, many years. However, they do have a fixed, hard pommel and you need to be sure they are not pinching the shoulders (like my current horse). Even their widest pommel (endurance one) was too narrow for my one mare and I had to head in other directions.... Currently, I am using Reactor Panel and am very, very pleased with the front shoulder flexibility of the saddle, the spine clearance and whole panel idea. I am planning to buy a Freeform for another horse we have to give that one a try.....it' looks good. There are links to all the different treeless saddle distributors, photos and info on what pads people are using on the treeless site..... ----- Original Message ----- From: <arachne@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, March 15, 2005 3:59 PM Subject: [RC] saddle for gaited endurance horse After spending an afternoon researching various archives for saddles for gaited horses, the consensus seems to be Ansur, Torsion, Boz Bareback and Bob Marshall Sports Saddle. So, my question for you "gaited grinners" (what we are doing at the end of a long ride) is: what saddle has given you and your horse the most comfort over the long haul. This horse is new to me and my Wintec Endurance saddle does not fit him. Before I sore his back I need to get a new saddle!
