RE: [RC] Performance Pak 100 - Susan E. Garlinghouse, D.V.M.Does anybody happen to know the DE (digestible energy) available to horses from one pound of Performance Pak 100? http://www.milkspecialties.com/specialties/advperfpak100.html I'm trying to figure out if it's easier/cheaper to feed this rather than oil. 1 cup of oil provides 1.9 MCal of DE. They're pretty much the same on a weight for weight basis---one cup of liquid oil is equivalent weight-wise to two cups of solid prilled fat. Keep in mind that prilled fat tends to be easier to handle and feed than liquid oil, and is not as prone to oxidation. However, the prilled will also get sort of melty at temps over about 110-120 which make it a PITA sometimes. Also keep in mind that neither provide omega fatty acids unless the liquid fat you're feeding is cold-pressed and handled very carefully (away from light, heat, air).
