Affected foals do not die that quickly or that early from SCID.
They thrive off their dam's milk until about 3 months, then their immune system
slowly gives way to dieses. More than likely it is not SCID though I high
recommend the test for any Arabian that is breeding regardless.
I have tested my entire herd (30+) horses and did have two show up as
carriers. I have and will continue to use them, but only on clear horses.
Knowledge is power. As long as we have test we do not need to lose another foal
to SCID.
