Re: [RC] JRT Puppies - heidiSome people buy from a reputable breeder a pet quality animal (cat, dog, etc) at a reduced 'pet' price, swear up and down they never want to have babies and take it home to add to their something less than a breeding program. Some buy a pet quality animal (with papers) with a decent pedigree and use the papers to register litters out of multiple bitches, too...it's amazing what people will think of! AKC a few years back came up with "pet only" registration papers, so that the breeder can make the choice as to whether or not the animal is allowed to raise registerable offspring. I believe they can be changed to breeding-quality papers, but ONLY with the consent of the original breeder. Furthermore, most reputable breeders sell their "pets" with spay/neuter conrtracts.
