RE: [RC] Michel Bloch & Death Valley Encounter - David LeBlancKristen A. Fisher said: I am so glad that everyone came out of this situation OK! I do have a question though - when you lose consciousness, shouldn't you be checked medically for a head injury? Absolutely. Laser and I had a wreck at a beach ride one day - he stumbled trying to back away from the ocean monster that was trying to get him. I landed on my hip and then my head, and it knocked me out just briefly. I couldn't remember anything more than 2 minutes ago for a couple of hours, but I wanted to get back on the horse and finish the ride. I'm glad no one would let me. I had NO business being on a horse. They tell me I was fairly persistent about wanting to finish the ride - I still don't remember those 2 hours. I'm also really glad I had the helmet on - all the damage to my helmet was just to the left of the base of the skull. I saw a show on TV about a kid who came off a skateboard and fell almost exactly the same way I did, except from a lot lower and without a helmet. He ended up in the hospital for a month. His friend happened to be taping him when he fell and it was eery watching this guy do what I did. If someone loses consciousness from a fall, the best thing is to get them to a hospital. I'm glad Michel's OK, but he should have gone and been checked. I sure would hate to read a story here one day about someone who came off, got knocked out, got back on and died the next loop! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
