Re: [RC] vet checks - KeepsakeFarmsI ride in that area several times a year at the different rides (chicken chase, top of the rock, etc.). I prefer shoes and pads there myself, but have met many people on the trail who do not have pads, and some who don't have shoes on their horses. Depends on your speed and how careful you want to be. There are some rocky places, some blacktop road, and some dirt/gravel road. Most of the gravel/rock areas have enough room for you to ride at the edge. Yes, there are vet checks in 25 milers. One at the halfway point, then one at the end. You can also contact one of the ride managers to help you make the shoeing decision.
