Jack
is a good boy, but he doesn’t neck rein. Something new to work on I
guess. My mare who is the one being ponied is the “Boss” mare and
loves to bite him on the butt in the pasture to get him moving, but fortunately
behaves when we are ponying. – I just hope she keeps being a good
girl. At least if something should happen and the lead rope gets dropped
I know she will stay with us. She is very herd bound.

i havent lost too many through the
years. if you work slowly so that your mare understands what you are trying to
get her to do you should be ok. even with my baby horse if she pulled back i
just turned my horse to her and then regrouped. i like ponying, especially if
the one you are riding knows their job and doesnt give you a hard time. of
course neck reining is a must!!! good luck
