It certainly is possible (given all three alternatives Deanna mentioned. Basically, Benji (7 year old 1/2 Morgain 1/4 arab, 1/4 QH) was started on slow distances last year (completed 2 50s and had one choke:(. we did two days of death valley, 10 days off, 1 day 50 at Warner, 6 days off, 1 day 50 at Fire Mountain, 14 days off, 2 days of 50s at East Mojave. Basically a streatched out multiday. A young horse with 7.5-9 hr 50s. We'll now let him rest, likely till Home On the Range in March with just moderate/light workouts. I really think that a strategy of back.2.back weekends can be managed to the advantage of long term development. If you speed up, you need to stretch things out I think. (but hey, I'm not the horsey person, only following orders:) johnt (p.s. Managing back2back things with family and work and the rest of life can prove to be a bit more of a challenge!!) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
