Angie, that reminds me of my first wedding (yep, there have been 3,
LOL) I got married at my mothers house and the week before the wedding a
squirrel had died in a wall in the kitchen - absolutely nasty and as long as we
kept the kitchen door closed away from the living room it wasn't too noticeable
over the candles!
As for Christmas presents...well, current hubby pretty much doesn't leave
the house anymore so I get a shopping list - he was looking at CD players for
the trailer and I nixed that idea and told him (as it was at that moment about
25 deg outside with a ride next weekend and I had PLENTY of hints from all the
good people at RC!) that I wanted a hood thing to go under my helmet, extra warm
socks and a decent heater for camping in the back of the trailer that will
automatically shut itself off if the oxygen gets too low (not really a
possibility when you've got slats on the butt, but you never know). My
sweet sister in law has ordered 'Ten Feet Tall Still' for me and it will
hopefully arrive soon, and got me lots more socks for riding...
I'm wishing for that farm boy to come help with some chores around the
house, too - as hubby doesn't do much (sp triple bypass that didn't go so well 2
years ago) - I'm pretty much on my own in that department...thank God for
sisters in law that subsequently move in with you and take care of as much in
the house as she possibly can...she by herself is a great gift,
> I'd love to hear of some of your gifts from spouses, at
least > horse-related ones.
Three flat backed
buckets,
Book: "Basic Training of the Young Horse" by Reiner Klimke
(this was a nice thought on Bill's part. I had asked him to check the book
back out at the library when I didn't get it finished and he decided if it
was worth checking back out I must need it :-)
2 pairs Work
gloves
A carbon monoxide alarm for the trailer.
2 pairs of wire
cutters. When a neighbor's horse was caught in their fence and I couldn't
find any wire cutters I decided I want one pair that never leaves a spot on
the wall like a fire extinguisher. The other pair is for using.
It
was a good Christmas...one of my "gifts"...is that my house smells like a
dead rat right now. :-P We've had a stupid rat getting in the
dog food, bird feed, attic...etc. It was darned good at avoiding traps.
We finally broke down and put poison out in the attic and he chose to die
in a place where it smells up my bedroom most. This thing had never
gotten into the house exactly, but it was making me miserable so I am
determined to be cheerful as we burn festive scented candles over the
faintly lingering smell of a rat.
:-P
