Re: [RC] Kids, ponies and distance riding... Get a grip people - heidiYou're right, Barbara. This is hardly an epidemic. And because toddlers are not beating down our doors to participate, I fail to see why some people are so worked up over the small handful of very capable kids who DO start to participate below whatever these people think the "magic" age should be. I repeat myself, but thank heavens that exceptional kids still have a FEW things they can do that don't have arbitrary age limits! Just a postscript to the above... The only two cases in my memory where I really felt that parents were dragging kids along that shouldn't have been out there both involved kids who were well over Joe's proposed age limit of 8, and at least one of them was well over SERA's age limit of 10. All kids are different--one size does not fit all. Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
