Re: [RC] Break-ins & thefts at Auburn Overlook, Rattlesnake Bar & Sterling ... - heidiWow...that's a good idea! If I took Chloe (my Great Dane) I'd even get the floors of the trailer washed as a bonus . Seriously, I have thought about bringing my dog to camp before, too, but it's usually too hot here (S. TX) to park her in the trailer for any length of time. She'd be thrilled to go with us, but she'd have to stay in the trailer while we're out because her next favorite thing to do is try to eat horse hooves....even when they're still attached to the horse! Although we don't face quite the heat of south Texas most times, we do take our geriatric male Mastiff with us when we travel. We have a 12-volt fan in the LQ, and a walk-through door--we sweep the floor as clean as possible in the horse part of the trailer when we arrive, and in warm weather, we leave the connecting door open and put his dog bed, food, and water back there. There is sufficient air circulation that way to keep him pretty comfortable. When we're actually on the road, he has a bed in the back of the extended cab. (When we went to the Helldiver ride on Vancouver Island and had to go across on the ferry, I teased the dog about how much the extra two feet of truck for the extended cab cost us on the ferry trip... <g>) It saves me a board bill on top of the usual ride expenses, and he'd rather be where Mom is anyway... (And oh, yeah--I don't worry about breakins!) Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
