Re: [RC] Kids, ponies and distance riding - heidiMerryben, I just had a question regarding your juniors. You mention they could quit at the vet check. Is that because their parent's would be there to take care of them? The reason I ask is that I always have my 12 year old with me, who would probably rather die than to quit on a ride, however, if she did get pulled, I thought that as her sponsor, I had to pull also. More likely, I'd get pulled & have to find another sponsor for her.(:>) And yes, she annoyingly rides around bareback after our 50's, while I slowly hobble around. Kathy I'm not Merryben, but no, the sponsor does not have to pull if the junior pulls. The rationale is that the junior has help and oversight at the vet check with representatives of ride management, so doesn't necessarily need the sponsor to get hauled out of a vet check. As for Alice's question, certainly if you are sponsoring a very young rider, it might be best to pull if the child is pulled, or to have the child pull if you are pulled. But you are not forced to do that by the rules. Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
