Re: [RC] hypothetical situation - Jim HollandI'm opposed to ANY dogs at Ridecamp...or on trail rides. The first thing I taught my dog was NOT to follow me on trail rides....and I don't take my dog to rides. Since I live in a "country" setting in the North Georgia Mountains, dogs are never confined here. Some are "good dogs" and some are "bad dogs". That is, the "bad dogs" come out into the trail/road and harass my horses. I have taught the "bad dogs" to be "good dogs". MY dog doesn't do that. I taught her not to. When I ride up here, NO dog comes out of a driveway/trail/road to harass my horse on my trails/roads. Why? I carry a WHAMMO slingshot and a bag of marbles. I taught every damn one of them that: Sunny will stomp your butt if you come out here given the chance and you get close enough. (I encourage it) If they don't get close enough for Sunny, Jim will leave a big time bruise on your butt with a marble, given the chance. End of dog problem. (It also works in Ridecamp....as some unrestrained dogs have found out) Jim, Sun of Dimanche+, and Mahada Magic Dolly Miller wrote: OK, I got one better. What would you do if a dog about the size of a small shetland came to your camp and peed on your ice chest and the lid was not closed all the way and it ran in with your food and drinks? Yes, it happened. Good thing ( for the dog ) that I wasn't packing that day. No leash laws at that ride. My ice chest has to stay in truck bed now, cause I don't like dog pee on the outside either.
