Re: [RC] Stallions calling - heidiOK, this is probably a dumb question, but how do you distinguish between a stallion calling vs. a mare or gelding being lonely/bored/annoyed (other than checking the you-know-whats) and raising Cain 24x7?? I can't really describe how one tells the difference, but suffice it to say that it isn't any different than most of the time being able to tell whether it is a man or a woman calling you on the telephone, even if you aren't familiar with the specific voice. There is a quality to a stallion bellering that is simply not the same as a lonely horse calling. That said--ANY horse that calls incessantly in public needs to go do some more homework with regard to camping, IMO. I can understand the buddy-just-left calling, the buddy-just-reappeared calling, the its-dinnertime calling, and that sort of thing--but on-and-on non-stop is not tolerable, regardless of gender. Stallions just happen to be more prone to it, and are more apt to need to have it "explained" to them that it is not acceptable behavior.
