Re: [RC] Rump rugs - Vicki AustinOf course the best machine for the thicker materials would be an upholtery machine but.........I can't afford one so I got one of those really old, big black, iron, singers (when they first came out in electric) and it will sew anything I have tried so far. I make layers of winter blankets such as codura, fiberfill, wool and nylon PLUS putting the binding on the whole shabang. I have trouble finding needles and thread that will not break, and I get the industrial needles. Machine keeps going but needles do not so.............I just buy a lot of needles when sewing those kinds of blankets or when someone needs leather stuff. Even leather needles break with my machine. OH by the way I paid $10 at a yard sale for the machine. --- Jerry Kopp <koppj@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Those of you making all this great stuff.....which sewing machines are able to handle the thicker fabrics? I'm in the market for one but don't want to end up with something that will not be able to do the job.
