Re: Subject: Re: [RC] Dogs in RC - heidiI have not yet attended one of these rides but I may want to bring my dog when I do. My dog is trained and titled in obedience and wears a training collar when we ride. This leaves me total control of where he goes, how far away etc, without the worry of a line of any sort. My dog likewise is obedience titled and trained. At rides, his leash stays ON when he is out of our living quarters. Period. We have a walk-through from the living area of the trailer to the horse area. Unless the weather is bitterly cold, during the days at rides, I leave the connecting door open and put his food, water, and dog bed back in the horse area (well cleaned out after travel) where he is shaded, has lots of air circulation, and has a large "house." If it is REALLY hot, he has a fan rigged back there, too. I don't consider it a matter of others having "ruined" it for me--I don't turn my horses loose at dog shows, either. Dogs are a part of my life. They are not a part of life for everyone else at endurance rides, so I don't subject other people at rides to that part of my life.
