Re: [RC] Water tank and hayrack questions - sharon1359You know, I totally forgot that my barnlord told me when THEY used to camp with the horses they had an extra-tall cap like mine, and they put a sheet of plywood up on the shelf running around the outer edge of the truck bed. You know, resting on the shelf that the cap makes where it sits on the top edge of the sidewall. That would be a perfect way to slide a couple long & low water tanks (like the hayrack kind) right underneath! :) Thanks for the reminder! That said, I'm still thinking I'd LOVE to have a hayrack for the hay. Does anyone know of a place online to get drawings/specs? I found a couple Aluminum welding places who could do it for me if they had a rough design. (We're not a real agricultural area, so I don't think it's a real common request.) Thanks! -Sharon Quoting Joan Curtiss <jcc25@xxxxxxxxxxx>: Hi Sharon, I have a pickup that I camp in too. I don't put hay or water in the bed of the truck but do need storage for other things. We built a platform out of plywood that rests on the wheel wells of the truck. We built a frame at the front and back that the plywood rests on. It's surprisingly sturdy and leaves plenty of room underneath for all sorts of gear. We can still fit the camping mat and sleeping bags on top. One thing we're thinking of doing next year is to cut the plywood in thirds and put hinges on each end piece. That way we can flip up either end to get stuff out a bit easier. Good luck, JoanHey all, I have a v-nose BP trailer with dressing room (no hayrack, unfortunately).Ihaul it with a short-bed ex-cab pickup that has a cap on it. We sleep intheback of the truck. I would love to find a good solution for a water tankthatwon't take up a lot of space. The corner-tank style seemed good at first but my trailer isn't a slant load so it doesn't have any corners that are such an acute angle! Will I be able to jury-rig the corner tank to fit in my trailer snugly and safely?? Hasanyoneout there done it, and maybe have pictures I can see? Does anyone have other suggestions for me? I thought about putting one intheback of the truck, and although it would be better weight-wise I don't think it would work since we will be sleeping in there and our air mattress takes up the entire width/length. What I would REALLY like is a hayrack... does anyone know how much it coststobuy one and have it installed?? Second-best would be a rack over-top of my truck's cap, on which I would put the hayrack tank. Any guesses on cost there? Thanks in advance for any ideas! -Sharon Kenney & Zephyr's Elegant Gift (who are both ready to have winter be over!) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
