[RC] No mounting blocks - Maryanne Stroud GabbaniOh, yes, yes, yes.As one who has a rotten left knee and has had to get on even a short Arab in the desert I can testify. Sand dunes tend to squish under foot and camels have rotten temperaments and tend to move. Every now and then I send a little prayer up to the Angel of Random Acts to thank her for those strange blocks of cement that can be found out in the most preposterous spots in the desert here. We have all sorts of theories about how they come to be there, but short folk with bad knees don't really care who places their mounting blocks. For that matter, even an odd bit of pyramid can be a very handy thing out in the middle of all that squishy sand. And stop to think about it...those guys used to ride in long skirts too. Bad enough in lycra tights.
