[RC] Horse talk - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Catherine Peloquin cpenguin57@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== but more importantly, one has to become fluent in "horse language" so that one can carry on a running "body language" conversation with the horse in "real time" and can recognize what the horse is saying so that one can make the appropriate "comment" in return, and in time! Heidi, you put it very well regarding having a real time conversation with your horse. Those may not be your exact words but boy is that the truth. I feel for Karen and Mazzie. My mare is a carbon copy. I talk to my horse all the time with words and body langauge. She understands most of what I say. If she ignores me or doesn't understand, I'll put things a different way. Sometimes a crop is involved. Some horses just make you compromise no matter what. My mare has made an art form out of negotiating the deal. She is smart, strong and brave. Ours is a partnership that gets stronger and better over time. I am her means to do what she wants, get down the trail and she is very very ALPHA. I thought I had a difficult horse, but she has since taught me I I am the one with the problems.
