Re: [RC] Wild Horses Letter in NY Times..on the mark - Kimberly M PriceNot much of a rebuttal seeing as you havn't stated facts, only your own opinions. I didn't post this to get into a debate about this author as I don't know anything about her. I did post it because I agree with this letter. If it weren't for the cattle farmers trying to get more grazing, paid for by our tax dollars, these horses wouldn't be in holding pens right now and we would not be faced with this dilema. Cattle belong either on private property or feed lots, not on our public lands. Horses, buffalo, elk, deer etc belong on our public lands, they do not congregate in riparian habitat and they do not overgraze as they move from area to area; horses alone average ten mile a day in search of forage. That is my opinion. I'm not about to change anyone elses and frankly, I don't care to. Have a nice weekend. Hope Ryden has been writing pure drivel about wild horses (and a few other species) for years. She is one of those folks who does not want facts to interfere with her agenda. When Heather Thomas wrote her very well researched book THE WILD HORSE CONTROVERSY, Hope tried to sue her. She couldn't get past Square One doing so, however, since truth is the ultimate defense. Ms. Thomas was able to punch holes in a great deal of Ms. Ryden's nonsense with Ms. Ryden's own inconsistencies and with well-documented information from several sources. But thanks for publishing her letter. It's worth a rebuttal.
