[RC] downhill hard on gaited horses(?!) - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Ray o'Donohue rno2m@xxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Well, all the folks who have been posting on this ain't blowin' smoke. We canter 'em downhill just fine;gait'em or slow walk 'em maybe on the really steep hills.I don't think good hard work is bad for a horse. If you have a problem on downhills,I suggest that it probably CAN be really improved, with work.In my horse's case, the breakover at the rear hooves was WAY to slow, from un-natural ("normal")shoeing. We sped up the rear breakover, and that really helped in downhills and all the rest of the time too. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
